What's Next

[Jay Phillips is walking backstage with a camera close behind him moments after the Mark Blood/John Fraust main event. He appears to be looking for someone.]

Jay Phillips: Here he is.

[Mark Blood is sitting down at a bench with a towel around his neck to mop up sweat and his head in his hands. He looks up at Jay.]

Mark Blood: What do you want?

JP: Mark, you just wrestled an amazing Iron Man Match. It's a match that some have said is make our break for you. You came out of the match with a loss. NRWL fans are going to want to know, what's next?

MB: What's next? What's next? Jay, what's next is that I do what I've been doing since I got here. I just keep moving forward. I just keep working hard and improving every single time I get in that ring.

JP: Is your fight with Fraust over?

MB: Tonight I lost a match. It was a big match but you know what? It's over. That fight, that war, it's come to an end. I'm just happy to put this whole thing behind me and find my next opponent. I have work to do.

[Mark stands up and walks away leaving Jay standing there unable to follow up.]

Mark Blood slides outside the ring. Fraust follows him but is surprised with a shot to the face by the ring steps. The brawl continues outside. Fraust tries to use weapons but Blood blocks the attempts. Fraust manages to pull off another Ice Pick and a pinfall. Quickly answering back, Blood pins Fraust with one minute remaining. As the clock runs out, Fraust win the match with the final score of 5 to 3.

Mark Blood climbs back into the ring following his loss and collapses in the center of the ring. Fraust walks up to Blood and kicks him a few times to add insult to injury.

Coming In From the Road

[Jim "The Amp" Johnson and WarHead are sitting ringside at the announce table.]

Jim "The Amp" Johnson: Fans, we are going to go to Jay Phillips who is standing outside. He is about to meet with new NRWL star, JT Crusher, as he arrives at the arena.

WarHead: AAAALLLL RRIGGGGHHTT!! We've been hearing about this ET Cushion guy for a while. Can't wait to meet him!

[The scene changes to Jay Phillips standing in the parking lot outside of the arena.]

Jay Phillips: Hey, thanks guys. I have been told that JT Crusher is just about to pull into the arena and I'm here to greet him. I --- oh wait, here he is now!

WarHead: Here he go...

[A beautiful Harley Davidson motorcycle pulls into the parking lot and parks at a spot close to the arena. A huge, long haired, leather jacket-wearing man steps off of the bike. He walks up to Jay Phillips. He takes off his sunglasses and gives Jay a stern look. Jay is obviously terrified of the road warrior who stands before him.]

JT Crusher: [In a low, cold voice.] Are you Jay Phillips?

JP: I ... yes I am.

[JT stares at Jay for a moment longer and then suddenly brightens up, grabs Jay's hand and vigorously shakes it up and down. He begins to laugh and slaps Jay on the back, nearly knocking the announcer over.]

JTC: Well it's nice to meet ya, pal! I'm JT Crusher. I've been traveling the roads for a long time and I'm finally ready to settle down, right here, in the NRWL. Thanks for the warm welcome. I can't wait to get into that arena and meet all of the fans.

Jim "The Amp" Johnson: Huh. Well, that was a little unexpected. Seems like a nice guy.

WarHead: Yeah... Might not be a good thing, though. The NRWL is a tough place and you don't come here to make friends.

[JT is about to walk inside the door with Jay until a gold painted Hummer drives toward them. The driver pulls the huge vehicle into the parking spot next to JT's motorcycle. As he pulls in, the front bumper hits the bike, knocking it over. Instead of stopping, the driver continues to pull into the spot, running the bike over and destroying handlebars and the chrome finish. The bike is ruined. The Hummer's engine shuts off. Slam Jackson steps out with his hand over his mouth. He looks horrified.]

Slam Jackson: Ohhhhhhhhhh mmmyyyyyyy goodddddddddddd.

[JT walks over to the bike and brushes his hand tenderly over the corpse of the machine. He stands up and looks at Slam Jackson with a cold stare.]

SJ: Oh, I am sooo sorry. Is this your bike?

JTC: Yeah. I only own the duffell bag with my clothes and this bike. It's all I have and you just ruined it.

SJ: Oh man. Oh... I am so sorry. I'll do whatever I can to make it up to you. I promise.

JTC: Oh, you'll make it up to me. In the ring.

[JT walks into the arena. Slam stands there scratching his head and staring at the wrecked bike. Jay is standing off to the side with a dumbfounded look.]

Jim "The Amp" Johnson: This did not go well.

[WarHead snickers, stops himself.]

WarHead: Well, on the bright side, we're getting a match out of the deal. Win for the rest of us?

Sorry For Your Loss

[Trixie is filling a plate with some food from the catering table. She suddenly lifts her head, staring straight forward. She knows someone is standing behind her.]

Trixie: Paul.

[The camera zooms out to show Paul Priest standing behind her.]

Paul Priest: You know, Trixie. We've had our differences in the past. Despite that, I wanted to tell you that I uh.. Well, I'm very sorry for your loss.

[Trixie turns and looks at him with a confused look.]

Trixie: What are you talking about?

PP: You know, Scotty?

Trixie: Scotty? He's not dead, Paul. He's injured. What is the matter with you?

PP: Dead. Injured. Look, I know how it is. I once dated this incredibly gorgeous woman. I mean, wow. You're hot and all, but this one was the queen of the mountain. Well, she had a thing for riding horses and doing the fancy tricks with them and all that. You know what I mean?

[Trixie bites her lip and forces herself not to attack him.]

PP: So this chick falls off of her horse, breaks her neck.

Trixie: Oh my god, that's awful.

PP: It was. It was. Very tragic. Because of the paralysis, she just couldn't do stuff anymore. Sexually, I mean. She was as good as dead at that point. I was heartbroken when I left her in the hospital but I managed to carry on. What I'm trying to get at is, I know how you feel. And, I'm willing to put aside our differences and support you and all of your needs. I'd like to start mending our relationship by asking you to accompany me to the ring in my match against Jacob Washington. It may help you with the healing process. [Paul begins to speak in a dramatic voice] I know the pain of losing a loved one.

[Trixie frowns, takes her plate of food, and smashes it into Paul's face. She storms off. Paul sneers and wipes some tuna fish off of his face.]

PP: Guess I'll take that as a 'no'.

Back In The Saddle

[Jay Phillips is standing backstage in an interview area.]

Jay Phillips: Fans, my guest at this time, Storm Harrison.

[Storm walks into the shot with the smug look that has become his trademark.]

JP: Storm, I was just been informed by the NRWL medical staff that you are cleared to wrestle. In fact, you have been cleared to wrestle since Season Five began. Why haven't you stepped into the ring?

Storm Harrison: Why? Why? Why would I trust the opinion of this crack medical staff. I know how I feel, Jay. I know I am still healing from the near fatal damage that was inflicted upon me by Johnny Young. I know NRWL is anxious to put me back in the ring. They need me. But, we must agree that bringing me back too soon is dangerous. It's just not the right move.

JP: You broke your knee. Hardly near fatal.

[Storm stares at Jay and is clearly annoyed.]

SH: Ok. What's your point? Why am I here?

JP: I was just informed by NRWL management that you are more than ready to get back into the ring, and you WILL compete at the next event.

SH: What? This is surely a joke! This isn't funny, Jay. I will NOT compete.

JP: Oh yes you will. And your opponent is none other than... "Hardcore" Adam.

[Storm screams and stomps away, knocking over equipment in the hallway.]

SH: This will not stand! I have this decision overturned. Mark my words!!!!

[Jay tries to contain his laughter as Storm turns a corner and disappears.]

JP: Don't worry, fans. It will stand. Storm Harrison vs. "Hardcore" Adam at the next event.

An Ominous Challenge

[The lights go out in the area.  After several seconds seconds, the Jumbotron blips a with static a few times and then turns on to white noise.  After a few more seconds, a video feed flashes on, scan lines running across it occasionally.  It is Nick Belhor in a dark room in front of single lit candle.  Over his shoulders are his two bruisers, Mastema and Abbadon]

Nick Belhor:  There will be a tournament.  And let this be a warning.  You have all seen what has happened to Apollyon and Scott Paris.  Any men that dare stand in the way of the Sons of Darkness, and they will join those other two.  We will make a statement of our dominance at the next event by destroying the current champion Bruno Kowalski and the champion before him, Ash.  But this match will be even more dangerous as all competitors will be in the ring at once under Tornado Tag Team rules.  One of the Sons of Darkness is frightening enough.  Now you must deal with both.

Good bye, gentlemen.

[video feed cuts off to a blip of static.]

There's a Tornado Watch in Effect!!!

[WarHead is standing in the middle of a ring with a microphone.]

WarHead:   AAAAAAALLLLLLL RRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGHHHHHTTTTT!!!!!!!!!

[crowd cheers loudly to the classic WarHead catch-phrase]

WH:  I’m WarHead - The Hottest Item in the NRWL - stepping away from my new position at ringside commentary to conduct a small interview with a new wrestler just signed to the NRWL over the past few days, and DONCHA WANNA KNOW WHO IT IS?!?!

[Crowd responds to WarHead’s charisma with a cheer of affirmation]

WH:  Cool.  Ok, this guy is young but he’s got the skills.  He’s got the skills because wrestling is in his blood.  Dudes and Dudettes, let me  introduce you to…...TORNADO!!!!

[“Bullets” by Creed blasts over the speakers.  Tornado emerges from behind the curtain.  He is young looking, well-build with short, bleached hair, wearing black cargo shorts and sneakers.  He makes his way down to the ring, slapping fans’ hands on the way down.  He climbs into the ring and stands next WarHead]

WH:  Tornado, welcome to the NRWL.  The big leagues!

T:  Thank you, WarHead.  It feels great to be here!

WH:  I don’t mean to put you on the spot, but, I know you have turned lots of heads in the independent circuits and minor leagues, but some people--not me--would say that the actual; reason you got signed to the NRWL is due to your father, Cyclone.  Not only his reputation and accomplishments, but also his standing with NRWL co-founder, Mr. Charles.

T:  *smiling*  I knew this would be mentioned near the beginning of my NRWL career.  Just not this soon!  Yes, my father is Cyclone.  Yes, he was a legend in the SCSF, and that makes me the first 2nd-generation wrestler to come from an SCSF star.  But if anyone thinks that the only reason I’m in the NRWL is because of what my father accomplished in the SCSF, they’re in for a rude awakening.

WH:  I don’t doubt it.  I know you got what it takes to succeed.  I’ve watched you dominate coming up through the ranks.  But...I just want you to know that the NRWL is a different animal.  Wrestling is important, but it’s not the only thing you’ll have to contend with.  Guys here will use any psychological means to get an advantage to win.

T:  I’m ready for it.  I’m ready to win it all.  I’m ready to bring some more gold and prestige to the family name

[Suddenly, “Dazzle Vision” blasts over the speakers, and Katsutoshi walks out from behind the curtain with a microphone in hand and  Leiko following. The music dies down and the crowd starts boo’ing]

Katsutoshi:  Oh no!  Here we go again.  More “blah blah blah” about past accolades that nobody cares about!

[Katsutoshi and Leiko climb into the ring.]

K:  You’re living in a dream world, Tornado -- real original name, by the way.  You’re no different than half the guys here and you’ll amount to just as much.  Look at Mark Blood.  Touted as the 2nd-generation star, son of “legendar” Mike Blood.  Mike Blood had his glory days in MoW, but when he was in the NRWL, he sucked.  Mark Blood, he didn’t have any glory days anywhere.  He just sucked wherever he went.  But maybe he should chalk that up to his mentor, John Fraust.  Another has-been loser trying one….desperate….last grab at glory, and falling right on his face.  Well, the falling on his face could be courtesy of my foot when I kicked him in the head.  At least WarHead here is smart enough to stay out of the ring and just do commentary, or else I would have to beat him down too

[WarHead looks to the side sarcastically.]

K:  Look kid, I’ve been dominating since I got here.  I’m on the fast track to the championship.  And I don’t need any help from my daddy past.  You’ve got some big shoes to fill.  Maybe you can spend half your career sidelined with broken ribs like your dad suffered at the hands of Prime.  Or how about that month-long coma like he was put in by Rahnkor?  What about getting kicked to the curb by your tag team partner, kind of like how the legendary Crunchy because Cyclone just couldn’t cut it?  You want to prove yourself, then step into the ring with the REAL hottest item in the NRWL...me!

[Katsutoshi lowers his mic and smiles smugly.  Leiko pops blows a bubble in her gum and pops in Tornado’s direction]

T:  Are you done?  Listen, you can come out here and spew as much garbage about my father as you want.  I don’t care.  This isn’t about him.  He’s retired.  This is about the now and about me!  You want a match, you got it.  And you watch how quickly these winds snuff out your so-called hot-streak.

[Tornado walks by Katsutoshi, shouldering him as he walks by, and leaves the ring.  Tornado and Katsutoshi jaw at each other as Tornado walks backwards up the ramp.  After Tornado walks back behind the curtain, Katsutoshi turns around to face WarHead.  WarHead smiles, then suddenly kicks him in stomach and puts him The Fallout to the crowd’s delight.  WarHead rolls out of the ring while Katsutoshi rolls around in the ring holding his head.  From the mat outside, WarHead yells “The Hottest Item in the NRWL!” and raises his arms to a loud crowd pop.  WarHead sits back down in at the commentary table with Jim “The Amp” Johnson]

Jim “The Amp” Johnson:  WarHead!  You put Katsutoshi in The Fallout!!  Are you allowed to do that??!

WH:  I don’t know.  I didn’t read my contract!  But we got a great match between Tornado and Katsutoshi at upcoming show!  And I can’t wait to see it!!!

Mounting Tension

Jim “The Amp” Jonhson:  Hello everyone!  I’m Jim “The Amp” Johnson and welcome to the NRWL!  We’re about to get underway with another round of action and already we’ve got so much going on!  But first

WarHead:  AAALLL  RIIIIIGGGHHH!!!!  Yeah!  Thank you, Tim “The Gramp” Donson!  It’s been a long time since, but it feels good to be back behind this shoddily put together desk while wearing over-sized headphones watching a 6-inch TV monitor while the matches that are happening live 10 feet away!

JJ:  Oh no.  You’re not going to behave like this all the time, are you?

WH:  Ha ha!  No, I’m a little older and a little more mature, so I’ll try to keep it professional.  But I’m not gonna lie, expect occasional sarcasm and snarkiness.

JJ:  Understood.  WarHead, as a veteran of the ring, let me pick your brain a bit here.  First, give us your thoughts on latest bombshell of the Fraust and Mike Blood saga - the two of them last night agreeing to compete in a No DQ, No Countout, Falls Count Anywhere, Extreme Rules Iron Man Match.  Is that even possible?!?

WH:  Let me tell you about Fraust.  I’ve known the guy for a long time - almost my entire wrestling career.  And he is like a box of chocolates - you give him to your girlfriend to make her happy.  But also, you don’t know what you’re gonna get.  He can be your best friend one minute, and the next you want to put his face through a brick wall.

JJ:  Mark Blood seems to be on the latter of those two extremes, now.

WH:  Yeah, Markie got himself into some sort of weird, quasi-family feud.  He’s danced with the devil and now he has pay the piper!  *confused look*   That really didn’t make sense, but you know what I mean!

JJ:  I think I did…

WH:  But the question most don’t think about, but I do, is….if Fraust wins…..what’s next for Mike Blood?

JJ:  Very good point!  Mark’s NRWL run has been arguable lackluster.  Will losing to Fruast effectivly slam the door for Mark?

WarHead:  Exactly my point.
JJ:How about the Storm Harrison/Caleb/Johnny Young thing?

WH:  Johnny Young has got  his work cut out for him. Caleb is big and strong and tables match usually favors the man with those traits.  Although, anyone would be a fool to count Johnny out of anything.  The man is a 2-time NRWL champion.  He’s proven time and time again that he can win.

JJ:  It’ll be interesting to see how Caleb does under the direction of Storm Harrison.  Last time we saw him, he was under the orders of The Druid.  Not to take anything away from Storm, but…..The Druid.

WH:  Right!  The Druid was very cold and menacing.  Storm seems more calculated.  If done correctly, he might be able to harness Caleb even better.  That’s a scary thought.  As for Storm, can anyone blame him though?  I mean, Johnny smashed him up with a fire extinguisher and then shoved down a flight of stairs!

JJ:  Actually, Storm fell down those stairs…

WH:  Same thing!  So I think Storm maybe has a legit beef and wants some payback.  It’s only fair.  And on top of that, Johnny put everyone in that building at risk by removing a fire extinguisher and not using it for it’s purpose.  Those things are intended to be used in emergencies only!

JJ:  And finally, let’s talk about our champ, Bruno Kowalski, and the strange goings-on with Max Destruction.

WH:  It was only a matter of time before Bruno won the title.  He’s championship material, so there’s no real surprises there.  On the other side of the equation, Max has been chock full of surprises lately.  I was a big fan of his when he was boxing.  And I recall him giving me quite the beating during the final Fatal 4-Way match of the first NRWL Championship tournament.  But I don’t know what to make of his most recent actions, and I would have a lot of questions if I was Bruno!

[Godsmack’s “Crying Like a Bitch” blasts over the speakers]

JJ:  It looks like you’re right, WarHead!!  And maybe we’ll get some answers, because there he is, the NRWL Champion, BRUNO KOWALSKI!!!

[Bruno emerges from behind the curtain dressed in his now iconic streetwear of jeans, white t-shirt, and black leather jacket.  The crowd cheers at the first sight of him.  He has the NRWL belt draped over his shoulder.  He stands at the top of the ramp with a small smile on his face.  Slowly and deliberately, he raises the NRWL belt overhead with one hand, and the crowd erupts with even louder cheers]

JJ:  This place is deafening!!!

WH:  What?!?!

[Bruno walks down to the ring, slapping some fans’ hands on the way down.  He rolls into the ring and takes a mic.  The music dies down.]

Bruno Kowalski:  You know…….*he looks at the belt*  it feels pretty good.

[Another loud pop from the crowd.  Bruno rests the belt back over his shoulder.]

BK:  A few years ago I signed with the NRWL.  And as soon as did, there were talks right out of the gate that I would be a contender.  The pressure was on from day number one.  And I’m not sure why.  There were so many new names.  Meinrad von Brakkus, Pedro Muchacho, Scotty “The Body” Paris, Quasar, Slugger Malone.  They’re all great wrestlers and some have even held this be.t, but I personally felt more was expected of me.  I wasn’t as big as Meinrad.  I wasn’t as flashy as Pedro or Quasar.  I wasn’t as glamorous as Scotty.  I wasn’t as ruthless as Slugger.  But I think so much was expected of me because I honestly feel that my worth ethic was a level above.  And it might’ve taken longer than expect, but here I am….NRWL Champion!!!

[Loud pop from the crowd, then followed by chants of “Bru-no!  Bru-no!  Bru-no!”

BK:  Thank you!  Now, one thing I’ve learned about being champ is that you’re suddenly privvy to some inside information!  And I was tasked tonight to break this news to you.  There’s going to be some returning gold in the NRWL!  The NRWL Tag Team championship belts are coming back!  Anyone who’s been watching the past year will know that the tag team matches have some of the most exciting ones!  So, in an upcoming event happening very soon, there will be a tournament of 8 tag teams.  You might already be familiar with some teams such as the 4 Elements and the Sons of Darkness.  And there’s a good chance that my other shoulder hear might feel some extra weight of a second belt because I’ll be entering the tournament too!

WH:  Double the gol---

[Metallica’s “Ain’t My Bitch” cranks over the speakers]
JJ:  Things are about to get interesting!

[Max Destruction walks out to a mixed crowd reaction.  He makes his way down the ring and climbs in and takes a mic]

Max Destruction: Bruno, what you have accomplished is truly a deserving prize for your hard work. I think the fans should give you another round of applause. Come on!

[The crowd breaks into another series of cheers for Bruno.]

MD: This tag team tournament business is interesting. Very interesting. See, we’re good friends, tag team partners, but also individual and determined warriors. I told you that if you won that belt, I would come looking for my shot at winning it for myself. Right now, right here, that’s what I’m here to do. It’s time to put our friendship to the side and fight for the NRWL Championship.

[The crowd responds to a mixed reaction. Cheers for the excitement of seeing Max’s proposed match. Boos for the audacity of the challenge and the recent behavior by Max.]

JJ:  Some fans here, a little skeptical of Max.

WH:  Can you blame them?

MD: But I want you to know. It’s nothing but professional. Professional all the way. I am still standing in your corner in the tag team tournament. I’ve got you back, you know that. The only difference is that it will be me holding two belts at the end of the tournament.

[The crowd boos. Max looks out into the crowd with slight irritation.]

BK:  Max, I don’t know if you can hear it, but the fans here don’t seem to be completely buying what you’re saying.  And frankly, I have some questions of my own.  What what were you thinking attacking Marty Anderson during his match?  And what is going on with you and The 4 Elements?  You know those guys are bad news.

MD: The 4 Elements aren’t bad news. Misunderstood is the proper word to describe them. When the NRWL came back they brought in a whole new roster. But when Season Five started, what happened? They brought back Tommy, Marcus, Fraust, Hardcore Adam, myself. It was obvious to the NRWL and their fans that the new class dropped the ball. It needed its veterans.

[The crowd begins to boo loudly. Max waves his hand dismissively at the crowd.]

JJ:  That’s rather dissreptful.

WH:  Welllllllll…...

MD: It’s not that all of you who came here in Season Four were failures. You just weren’t ready to run with the ball on your own as a whole. Johnny Young was around but it’s obvious that he did fail at being the team captain for you guys. The 4 Elements changed all that. Marcus and Tommy came in with a job to do. They came here and knew someone had to lead the way to the future. You may not like their style but they are making a statement that needs to be made. The 4 Elements are on the verge of dominating this company. They brought Mikey Armstrong and Paul Priest into their fold. Paul obviously wasn’t working out. Tragically, Mikey was injured. But these are merely bumps in the road. The group pushes on. As for me, I see their vision. I’m a supporter of The 4 Elements because the NRWL needs them to be leaders.

[The crowd continues to boo.]

MD: As for Marty Anderson, there was nothing personal there. I knew I needed to get the 4 Elements attention. He was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I know he is looking for a fight. I’m not one to back down. Marty Anderson is going to get his match.

BK:  Well, Max.  Yes, The 4 Elements could be called a veteran force.  But before saying that the new guys, such as myself, couldn’t run with the ball, why don’t we look at what type of “running with the ball” The 4 Elements have done?  Between all of them, they’ve amassed very little.  The most successful one, Mikey, is out with an injury.  The NRWL is bigger and better than it ever has been.  And it isn’t thanks to The 4 Elements.  Because this company was growing before they came on board.  And as for Marty Anderson.  You best take care of business with him first.  Then come talk to me about my title.

MD: Marty has nothing to do with the business between you and me. But, have it your way. I’ll go through Marty and then I’ll take that championship belt off of your shoulder.

[Max lowers his microphone, thinks for a moment, and then puts it back up to his lips.]

MD: I always thought you’d understand what it means to be a competitor. But here, I see you’re soft like so many others in the back. Another wrestler comes to challenge you and you take it personally. I’m disappointed. Truly.

BK:  I am a competitor.  This *holds the belt up* is proof.  And yes, I take your challenge personally.  I take every challenge personally.  And if we ever lock up over this belt, I just hope YOU won’t take it personally when I leave you lying on your back in the middle of the ring.  Good luck, Max.

[Bruno’s music comes on and he drops the microphone to the canvas.  He walks right by Max and exits the ring.  Max grits his teeth and stares as Bruno walks up the ramp, keeping his back turned to the ring and Max the entire way.]

JJ:  Oh man, that didn’t end well.

WH:  How can they still be a tag team after this?  A tag team needs trust from both members.  Bruno sounds like he doesn’t have very much of that left in Max.

JJ:  Well see how things unfold when Max and Marty go at it at the next show!

Not That Kind of Threesome

[Jay Phillips is standing in front of Paul Priest's locker room. He knocks on the door and waits for a response. He slowly puts his ear to the door and hears some commotion. Suddenly, the door opens and Paul Priest is standing there wearing only his underwear. He is sweating profusely.]

Jay Phillips: Uh, I'm sorry. Is this a bad time?

Paul Priest: It's ok, Jay. Just spending a little time with a friend of mine. Jasmine, say hello, won't you?

[Paul opens the door fully and Jay is shocked to see a thin, dark haired woman hanging from the ceiling in black leather straps. A harness covers her most private parts from the camera. The woman looks toward the door and gives an enthusiastic smile.]

Jasmine: Oh hi, there! I'm Jasmine. Are you the camera crew that is supposed to be coming?

PP: Oh, no. This isn't them. That's later. Later!

[Paul steps out into the hallway and closes the door.]

PP: Got a busy day today. So, Jay, what's up?

JP: I... so... *pauses* Ok. So Paul, the last time we saw you, it appeared that you may have been tossed out of the Four Elements. Can you confirm this?

PP: Jay, I'll just say this. The other guys in The Four Elements, well, they don't really share the same kind of lifestyle as me. Great guys, great. The thing is, they are ruthless fighters. Me? I'm a lover. I don't want to get into any intimate details right now. I do, however, have something to say while I have you here.

JP: That would be great. What is it?

PP: Something has really been bothering me lately and that something is a guy named Jacob Washington. Have you heard of this man?

JP: Of course I have! It's my job. He's a wrestler.

PP: No, he's a nuisance! A few events ago, I was taking care of some business with my old foe, Scotty Paris, and he had the gall to come and attack me. Jay, I am all for threesomes, but not that kind of threesome. He had no business trying to interfere with me. At the last event, he assaulted me in the hallway. He's a criminal. It's time to settle this in the ring. Jacob Washington, you are going to pay for getting in my business. I promise you. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to do unspeakable things to the lovely Jasmine. Thank you for your time.

[Paul opens the door and steps back inside.]

PP: Ok, where did we leave off? Ohhhhh.... right.

[The door closes on Jay before he can see what is going on inside. He speaks loudly through the door.]

JP: If you don't want to wait for that camera crew we are here and ready! Paul?!

[After receiving no response, Jay puts his head down.]

JP: This man is my hero.

The Fighting Spirit Will Never Die

*Mark Blood's music plays and he walks out to the ring dressed casually wearing jeans and a t-shirt. He receives a positive response from the crowd. He is no longer wearing an eye patch and appears to be healed from the assault by John Fraust and his protege Killer Malone. He stands in the ring and grabs a microphone from an attendant outside of the ring. He looks down at the ring mat for a moment until the music and crowd noise quiets down.*

Mark Blood: Thank you for that.

*The crowd cheers again.*

MB: You know, when I started here, everyone saw me as my father's son. Everyone expected me to be a particular someone. The bar was raised higher for me than everyone else. It's the curse of being a second generation star. I'll be honest. I bought into it. I thought I was better than everyone else. I expected to receive more respect than I got because I felt that the Blood name deserved it. I quickly learned that it wasn't the case. Respect is earned, not handed down from generation to generation. I can say that I am a changed man in that respect. There is one thing about me that hasn't changed. I have always tried to be my own man. Despite feeling that I should be respected because of my father's history, I wanted to carve out my own legacy. My father made his career as the face of Masters of Wrestling. As for me? I wanted... no, I want, to be the face of the New Revolution Wrestling League. And damn it, I promise that I will one day be the top guy in this company and take it to heights it has never seen before!

*The crowd cheers. Mark looks toward the ring entrance.*

MB: There's a guy in the back who feels I will never be that guy. He thinks I'm a waste of space around here and has done everything he can to make my life a living hell. That man helped train me. He was a friend of my father. He was like a big brother to me. But not anymore. John Fraust, you've made it your mission to destroy me. I'm here tonight to put an end to it. Slither out from whatever rocks you are hiding in and face me in the ring like a man!

*Almost immediately, Fraust's music begins to play and he walks out to the ring to a chorus of boos. He walks over to the announce table and grabs a microphone. He smirks up at Mark Blood in the ring and then climbs in.*

John Fraust: So very touching. I have to say, you speak with such passion. Such fire! If I didn't know better, I would actually believe you could do it. I could actually see the son of the great Mike Blood dominating the NRWL just as Mike dominated Masters of Wrestling.

*Fraust turns to the crowd.*

Such a beautiful picture. Such a perfect story!!!

*He quickly turns around and gets in Mark's face.*

JF: But it's just that. A story. A fairy tale. A fantasy of a boy who grew up idolizing is father and believing he could emulate him. When I helped train you all those years ago I hoped that boyhood dream would come true but I never believed it would happen. I didn't believe it then and I don't believe it now.

*Mark's face is flush with red and he appears ready to strike Fraust. Fraust steps back and raises a hand.*

JF: Hold on. I'm not done. It's no secret that I love your father like he's my own father. What he accomplished in his career is more than I ever did. In fact, there aren't many people in the entire wrestling world who could say they accomplished more than him. I never thought you could rise to that same level but you never needed to. You only needed to successfully carry on his legacy. When I came back to the NRWL, I looked for the guy who was carrying the torch for the Blood family. I found him but the torch wasn't lit anymore. I didn't see the proper successor. You want to know the truth, Mark? I came back to the NRWL to be the mentor to you that your father was to me. I was sickened to find that you weren't worth the effort. So yeah, I have made it my purpose to run you out before you tarnish your family name anymore than you already have.

*Both men stare at each other. The crowd is getting loud, some cheering in support of Mark Blood, others in support of John Fraust.*

MB: Then maybe it's time for me to prove to you that I am good enough. No more of your backstage attacks. No more tag team matches. Just you. Just me. One on one in this ring.

JF: Now you're talking.

MB: But it's not enough. You've taken too much from me. You've kept me down all season long and I am ending this. It'll be one on one... but it will be Extreme Rules. No holds barred! No disqualification! No count outs! Falls count anywhere!

JF: You really want to go out with a bang. Fine by me. It's your funeral. I'll do you one favor. I promise to make it quick.

MB: I wasn't done.

JF: Oh! *Fraust steps back with an exaggerated surprise reaction* There's more?! Please, have mercy.

MB: There won't be anything quick about it because this is all happening.... in an IRON MAN MATCH!

*The crowd explodes in cheers of excitement. Fraust's face takes on a brief look of legitimate surprise. He quickly steels himself once again.*

JF: You're on. See you in the ring.

*Both men stare each other down. Finally, Fraust drops his microphone, says someone inaudible to Mark as he walks by him, and exits the ring. Mark Blood's music plays. Mark stands in the ring and stares at Fraust as he walks back. Fraust walks to the stage, turns around and both men stare each other down from the distance between them. He turns around and walks into the back. Mark Blood stands in the middle of the ring, raises his face to the ceiling, closes his eyes, and takes in the energy from the crowd.*

The Hunter Becomes The Hunted

*Johnny Young is in the NRWL Arena parking lot looking for signs of Storm Harrison and his new bodyguard, Caleb. NRWL Reporter Jay Phillips runs up behind Johnny.*

Jay Phillips: Johnny! Johnny, where are you going?

*Johnny turns around and grabs Jay by the collar.*

Johnny Young: Back off, Jay. You know where I'm going. I don't rest until I find that punk, Storm Harrison. I hope his heavy is with him, too. Caleb may think he's intimidating but he doesn't scare me. The only thing he can do is make me mad. Putting me through that wooden desk was enough to get my attention. I don't know where he's been all these years but I'm going to send him right on back there.

*A Lincoln Towncar drives toward Johnny and Jay. It stops. Both men stare at the car as it idles, headlights still blinding them from seeing the driver. After a moment, Johnny gently pushes Jay aside and tells him to get back. The driver's side rear door opens and Storm Harrison steps out wearing an expensive suit.*

Storm Harrison: I thought the NRWL kept this parking lot clean of trash. Mind getting out of the way?

*Johnny immediately runs toward Storm, who stands his ground. As Johnny approaches the car, the driver's door swings open and knocks Johnny down. Caleb steps out from behind the wheel and grabs Johnny off the pavement. He sneers at Johnny and then proceeds to chokeslam him on the hood of the car. Storm runs over to his stunned rival and gets in a couple of cheap punches.*

SH: Oh Johnny, you are so blinded with rage. This is too easy. You assaulted the band leader of my show, you've been destroying everything in your path to find me. Well, old pal, here I am. You know, the moment I entered the NRWL, I always resented you. I always wanted to rip that smug look off of your face. You put me out of action for a long time. Well, it's time to return the favor. Caleb put you through my talk show desk and I liked it so much, I want to see it again. Caleb will be waiting in the ring at the next event to face you in a tables match!!! Caleb, get this bug off of my car and let's go.

*Caleb rolls Johnny off onto the ground. Caleb waits for Storm to get in the back of the car and then closes the door. Just as he is about to step into the driver's seat, he sneers at Jay Phillips who is standing off to the side. Caleb sits in the car, slams the door, and peels out. Jay runs over to Johnny Young to check on his condition.*

JP: Johnny! Johnny, are you alright? Johnny?!

*Johnny rolls onto his side and shakes his head. He finds the bumper of a nearby car and uses it to pull himself up to his knees. He is breathing heavy. After a moment to collect himself, he stands and looks in the direction of Storm's departed car.*

JY: I'll meet your monster in that ring, Storm. *panting* And then... I'm coming right for you.

*Medical staff arrives and begins to check out Johnny. Jay Phillips stands there in shock, unable to sign off for the camera as he usually does.*

NRWL Season Five Returns

Fans,

When we last left you, you were enjoying some of the best action the NRWL has ever produced. We've had new talent making their mark, veterans and legends showing that they still have their place, and a renewed excitement for the NRWL Championship culminating with a new champion in Bruno Kowalski.

We've been quiet since then. I am pleased to announce that the silence is over and the NRWL is back!

Longtime fans know that we traditionally split up our activity into seasons. This time, however, we are doing things a little different. We felt that ending the season with so many loose threads would be wrong. We are going to consider this a continuation of our fifth season. It may seem a bit unusual but we are going to pick up right where we left off. Season Five will continue on until we feel its story has been sufficiently told.

Who will be the first to challenge Bruno for the title? Will some of our injured warriors return to the ring? What's next for The Four Elements? As a fan myself I can say that I am as excited to find out as you are.

Welcome back, fans! Enjoy the show.

Mr. Sunderland
NRWL President
