Macho Madness!

May 21st 2011

*Slam Jackson and Storm Harrison are backstage talking to each other. Jay Phillips walks over to them to get an interview.*

Jay Phillips: Well, what a sight to see! Slam Jackson AND Storm Harrison together. This is the perfect opportunity to discuss the upcoming event with the both of you.

Slam Jackson: J-Dawg, it’s a sad day in the wrestling world. Storm and I were just talking about the death of one of our heroes, “The Macho Man” Randy Savage. If it wasn’t for him, we might not even be here in the NRWL doing what we love. Macho Man, the Slamnation mourns for you. Rest in peace, brother.

Storm Harrison: That’s right. Randy Savage was everything you wanted in a wrestler. He was definitely one of the best.

JP: Yes, truly a huge loss for wrestling. The NRWL mourns the loss of this great icon.

*All three men stand there silently, taking in the gravity of the moment. Finally, Slam Jackson breaks the silence.*

SJ: But Jay! There is trouble and the Slamnation must deal with it! That shiny, spiky haired, meathead Scotty Paris called me a weirdo! I won’t stand for this and neither will the Slamnation! Isn’t that right? Let me hear you!!!

*People start cheering wildly. Jay and Storm look around with confused looks, for they are the only people around Slam that they can see.*

SJ: I promise you this! Scotty Paris better have insurance on that cell phone he’s always talking on because it’s about to be inserted into his backside! It’s time someone teaches him a lesson in manners and I’m the man to ---

*Suddenly, Marty Anderson and Slugger Malone come by and interrupt the scene. Marty immediately grabs the microphone from Jay Phillips, cutting off Slam*

Marty Anderson: Before Slam got all excited here, I couldn’t help but overhear you two talking about Randy Savage. Slugger and I were fans too. Now, Slam and Slugger, you guys have matches already this week but Storm, you’re free. Why don’t you and I get in the ring at the upcoming event in tribute to the Macho Man? We’re no strangers in the ring but I think we can turn it up a notch and make the man proud. What do you say? You in?

*Storm starts nodding his head.*

SH: For the Macho Man. Let’s do this.

MA: Great. Alright, let’s go Slugger. We’ve got to clean up your dressing room. What a mess.

Slugger Malone: I don’t know what kind of paint he used but damn, I’ve been scrubbing it for days. I’m telling you, it’s not coming off.

*The two men discuss further as they walk off. Slam looks at Jay and Storm and then immediately starts talking again as if he was never interrupted.*

SJ: --- do it! I’m sending him back to Miami, Los Angeles, San Diego, or wherever he’s from so he can go cry in his mother’s lap. Where is he from anyway?

*Jay is about to answer but Slam immediately starts talking again*

SJ: I don’t remember either. It doesn’t matter. I’ll take him from coast-to-coast in a Slamnationwide tour!

JP: It sounds like Slam Jackson and his Slamnation are pumped up for his upcoming match with Scotty Paris. Storm Harrison will meet Marty Anderson in the ring now as well. This is building up to be a great show!

*Slam Jackson kneels down and hits play on an old ghetto blaster boom box. “Pomp and Circumstance”, Macho Man Randy Savage’s theme song, starts playing. Slam Jackson points one finger in the air and puts his other hand on his hip, twirls around until he is off camera. Storm Harrison and Jay Phillips shrug at each other and then do the same.*

Chopping Down Trees

May 21st 2011

*Jay Phillips is backstage with Rex Anarchy, who is leaning against a wall. The NRWL Championship is draped over his shoulder.*

Jay Phillips: Fans, I'm here with Rex Anarchy, the NRWL Champion. Last week, he lost a non-title match against Bruno Kowalski. This week? Bruno will be his tag team partner as they take on the Sons of Darkness. Rex, what are your feelings on this turn of events?

Rex Anarchy: Jay, let me start first by speaking of last week's match. Bruno Kowalski proved he is one of the best guys in the business. No doubt about it, he was the better man. We'll have our day again soon and when we do, I expect this title to be on the line. The truth is, I'm itching for a real title defense. Bruno Kowalski is the real deal. Which brings me to the question at hand. How do I feel about this current turn of events? I don't fear the Sons of Darkness. Apollyon and I are no strangers and we're no friends. Abbadon's just another Apollyon. Nick Belhor is just a flea. He can't even help his own guys win a match! Did you see the Abbadon/Harrison match?

JP: I did. So you sound pretty confident in this match. Certainly you are no stranger to the Sons of Darkness. How do you feel about Bruno Kowalski as your partner?

RA: You can put me on a team with anyone. If they're no good, I'll just pull the extra weight. That's not what is happening here. Bruno Kowalski as my partner is the best scenario I could hope for. You made a mistake, Belhor. The two of us are going to chop down your mutants like trees and we'll do it with our bare hands.

JP: Sounds like this should be a great match! You know, I have to ask. You are speaking very highly of Bruno Kowalski. It doesn't seem like you.

RA: Well Jay, you have to give credit where it is due. I thought Kowalski was good before we got in the ring but after being in the ring with him personally, I knew for certain. The Sons of Darkness have backed themselves into a corner. We will defeat them and kick them aside. It's time to finally put these freaks in their place!

*Rex Anarchy walks off, leaving Jay Phillips by himself.*

JP: Rex Anarchy and Bruno Kowalski against the Sons of Darkness. This is sounding like it is going to be big!

New Talent Arrives

May 21st 2011

*Jay Phillips is standing in the NRWL Interview area by himself.*

Jay Phillips: Hello fans. As you have probably heard, the NRWL has signed Mikey Armstrong to the roster. His arrival comes just after a big win in an exhibition match at our last show. I'd like to bring him out right now to introduce the fans to him. Mikey Armstrong, come on out!

*Mikey Armstrong comes out to the interview stage, smiling. He shakes Jay's hand.*

JP: Mikey Armstrong, welcome to the NRWL!

Mikey Armstrong: Wow. This is amazing. Finally, after years of being a fan, I'm officially in the NRWL. Jay, it is so intense! I can't even begin to describe it. To be considered a peer with all the other amazing talent is truly an honor and I intend to use this opportunity to its fullest!

JP: You had a huge win in an exhibition match last week. What were your thoughts going out there?

MA: My only thought was to go out there and make sure people remembered me. I was up against some big names. As far as the fans knew, Don Suave and I were nobodies. Invisible. I knew I had to change that perception! Now, did I expect to win that match? *Mikey thinks about this a moment* Yeah, I suppose I did.

*Jay stares at Mikey for a moment and then shakes his head as if to regain his focus*

JP: Wow. Umm... So you expected to win the match and you did it! Did you think you'd be offered an NRWL contract so quickly after this?

MA: Jay, I'm a wrestler. I don't draw up contracts or know the private matters of the company. I knew that they needed me but I didn't know if they realized that. It turns out they did and it was a great move on the company's part.

JP: And now that ---

MA: And also, I'd actually like to take this opportunity to thank someone.

JP: Oh. Sure. Who would you like to thank?

MA: I'd like to thank Quasar and Meinrad von Brakkus.

JP: Really? Do you feel that they taught you some skills that will help you going forward? It was a great match you had with them!

MA: What? No. No! I'd like to thank Quasar for sucking bad enough to get himself fired. Without him around, it made room for me. Quasar, from the bottom of my heart, I am eternally grateful for you and your lack of skills. May you have nothing but success in finding your favorite TV shows while you sit at home on your couch. And Meinrad. I'd like to thank you for being Quasar's partner. Who knows? If he had teamed up with a more talented wrestler, that man could have carried the match and made the outcome different.

JP: What? That is truly disrespectful! You don't really mean that!

MA: Sometimes the truth hurts, Jay.

JP: Well, you know that Meinrad has challenged you to a match, right?

MA: I actually did not know this. Sounds good to me. I'll show everyone what I'm made of by beating Meinrad again, one-on-one. It's not much of a challenge, but you have to start somewhere, right Jay?

*Mikey is smiling with his head held high and his hands on his hips. He looks confident and proud.*

JP: Meinrad von Brakkus is not a pushover! I think you need to take this more seriously.

MA: Jay, it's simple. Out wrestle the man and pin him. One. Two. Three. Mikey Armstrong wins!

JP: Yeah, but it's a TLC match.

*Mikey's smile drops and his head lowers slightly. He stares straight out at nothing off camera.*

MA: A what?

JP: TLC match. Tables, ladders, and chairs.

MA: Oh. *he clears his throat while still staring ahead* I... see... Well. If that's what it is, then... That's... what it... is... then.

*Jay smiles a little but only for a moment. Mikey's face has paled and he continues to just stare blankly.*

JP: So are you still confident about your chances in this match?

MA: Yep!

JP: Is there anything else you'd like to add?

MA: Nope!

JP: Well, there you have it. Mikey Armstrong makes his official debut against Meinrad von Brakkus in a TLC match *Mikey's eyebrows raise slightly upon hearing this again* next week. Good luck, Mikey! Welcome to the NRWL!

*Jay walks off camera, leaving Mikey to stand alone, continuing to stand there with a blank stare.*

Young Blood 3 - The Final Encounter

May 21st 2011

*Jay Phillips is standing in the interview area with Mark Blood on one side of him and Johnny Young on the other. Both men look ready to tear each other apart as they stare each other down. Jay looks at both men with a nervous glance.*

Jay Phillips: Hello everyone, Jay Phillips here with Mark Blood and Johnny Young. As you know, these two men have had a series of intense matches, culminating in a brawl backstage after their last match. I have just been given word from the NRWL offices that these men will meet one more time in the ring and ---

Johnny Young: Good. You know something, Jay. I'm glad we're having another match because this guy needs to be put in his place. When you get in the ring with The Star Player, You have to perform at the very top of your game. You did beat me last week, technically. Technically, you made me submit. However! Look at the tape of the match. Who was the one delivering the real pain? Who was the one throwing you around the ring like a rag doll? Me. Johnny Young. One more time around, I'll make sure to finish the job the proper way. I'll leave you in the ring a broken husk of a man like I did backstage last week when I knocked you out on the concrete floor.

Mark Blood: You talk a good game Young, but you conveniently ignore that fact that you've never beaten me in the ring. No matter the outcome, I've always won. I always will. I'll be happy to force your pea-sized brain to understand that.

JY: You want to throw down one more time, right here and now? Do you? We did this before and as I recall, you were the one who took a nap. I'm the one who walked away!

JP: Gentlemen. You aren't just having a regular match. The company understands that a traditional match won't do anymore. Not with you two. There's only one way to contain this feud. It has been decided that you both will compete, in the ring, surrounded by a steel cage.

*Both men stare at each other. Johnny Young snarls and grits his teeth. Mark Blood smiles until it becomes a sadistic grin. Jay Phillips stands back. Both men get nose-to-nose as the stare down continues.*

MB: You'll never get out of the cage. I'm finishing this once and for all.

JY: You'll never wrestle again, punk.

*NRWL's Security team breaks both men up and pulls them in opposite directions. Jay Phillips stands alone.*

JP: Next week, Mark Blood and Johnny Young in a steel cage! Make sure you are watching this one!

*Jay pulls the microphone away from his face and says something to someone off-camera. His comment is still fairly audible.*

JP: Is this a mistake? They're really going to kill each other, aren't they?

The J-Transfer - The Past Week's Goings Ons

May 16th 2011

Welcome to another edition of the J-Transfer! I’m Jay Phillips! Well, the Playstation Network is FINALLY back up so I can not post these videos and interv----what? What do you mean it didn’t effect the regular internet?? Oh man! I didn’t know the Internet still worked without the Playstation Network! I’ve just been playing Solitaire all this time on my computer! Man!

Anyway! Here’s some vids from last week just after the matches took place!

*clip cuts to Jay running up to Nick Belhor walking down the hallway and looking less than pleased*

Jay: Nick! Can you comment on the matches your guys were in?

Nick: Mr. Phillips, if I have to see you again this week, you’ll be paid a visit by the Sons of Darkness.

Jay: *worried* I’m sorry Mr. Belhor. Just your thoughts and I’ll go?

Nick: My thoughts are this. The NRWL, it’s executives, and it’s officiating have shown their true colors tonight. Once, yet again, they have pushed a member of the Sons of Darkness down!

Jay: What do you mean?

Nick: I’m talking about inappropriate disqualification of Abbadon!

Jay: But---you---elbowed Storm….?

Nick: I DID NO SUCH THING!!!! Storm Harrison left the ring to come at me—

Jay: I thought Abbadon threw him out?

Nick: --and I was trying to assist him back in, and my foot got caught on a badly set piece of padding and I tripped and landed on him. I tried to stop myself but couldn’t! And the ref stops the match. This federation is a joke.

Jay: So….what’s next for the Sons of Darkness?

Nick: What’s next is this. I will have them in a match where they are the most dangerous – together! We have certain unfinished business with one Rex Anarchy. Just because that miserable bedbug Scotty Paris cost Apollyon the belt, doesn’t mean Rex is safe. And while we’re at it, we might as well kill two birds with stone. Bruno Kowalski is making waves and turning heads. I’m sure he will be granted a title shot before either of the more deserving Sons of Darkness. So we will put him out of commission too.

Jay: So you’re proposing the Sons of Darkness vs. Rex Anarchy and Bruno Kowalski?

Nick: I’m not proposing it. I’m demanding it. Not get away from me, Jay!

*clips ends. Next one starts in Scotty “The Body” Paris’s private, gigantic locker room, right after his match with Apollyon. He’s bruised and his hair is disheveled. He is getting a rub down from a very attractive could-be-swimsuit-model masseuse. On a separate table, Trixie is getting her own massage from a guy who could pass as an Abercrombie & Fitch model. Scotty is yelling into his phone*

Scotty: --What are you talking about?? That match was great!!! …………Yeah, ok. I suppose I “technically” lost, but you know what? Nobody gave me a snowball’s chance in a microwave, and I went out there and gave that brainless musclehead a fight he won’t forget! Everyone is amazed by me! I came out of that smelling like roses! I’m amazing! I just keep getting better and better! Winner of the incredible ladder match! Got a title shot in this here briefcase *reaches down and pats the briefcase under the massage table* and now I’m known as the man who beat the Incredible Hulk, Apollyon, within an inch of his life! ……………..Right. Well, I’m just going to keep going up and make a splash at the next show by beating down another visible character. And I mean visible because his clothes are louder than a rock concert. I’m going to take on that weirdo Slam Jackson ………………Yeah, I know he’s deranged, but he CAN’T be worse than Apollyon! So he can go out there, clap his hands, pump his fists, rile up his Sham-nation, and then, I’ll beat them and laugh in their faces as watch their hero fall. I tell you, things are looking good for Scotty “The Body”, because I make it that way!

*clip cuts to Meinrad standing in the backstage interview area with Jay*

Meinrad: Let me tell you this, Jay. I’m pretty angry about last week. I wasn’t included on the card. And then, I lose in an exhibition match to a nobody! Well, I want this Armstrong guy in the ring again. One on one! I want to see what this kid has! And he’d better have something, because I’m bring the hammer of Brakkus down on him! I want to show him what it takes in the NRWL from the start! I want him in a TLC match. Let’s see what time of man he is!

*Clips cuts to in the ring action. Ash and Pedro Muchacho are in each other’s face with Jay Phillips in between them holding a mic*

Pedro: --Come on, hombre. Leyts see what chu got!

Ash: Oh I got plenty! I got a car! And a 3 bedroom apartment! And LED TV! And a—

Pedro: I meen een the reeng! *slaps head* Hay-soos Cristo!

Ash: Listen, Muchacho! You might be on quite the roll, but so am I! You beat some tough opponents, but I’ve beaten tougher ones. You might have talent, but I have more talent. But the one thing you don’t have, is the support of all these great fans!

*crowd cheers. Ash takes a few steps back and raises his arms out to the side and opens and closes his hands, asking for more noise. The crowd obliges. Pedro covers his ears and shakes his head and waves his arms at the crowd trying to get them to quiet down. They cheer louder. He finally gives up and yells into the microphone*

Pedro: Ok, hombre! Eets chu and me!

Ash: What’s chewing you?

Pedro: No! CHU! *points at Ash* ….. AND! …..ME! *points at himself*

Ash: Oh. Well you got it! Get ready to celebrate Cinco de My-Oh-My-Pedro-Sucks!

*Crows cheers with approval. Pedro stomps angrily in the ring at the insult.*

*Clip cuts to Slugger Malone walking up to his dressing room. He reaches for the doorknob but notices the door is ajar. Cautiously, he pushes it open. The door swings open and Slugger’s brow furls and his mouth turns into an angry frown. Painted all over his dressing room’s walls are stick figures of animals, people and other crude objects.*

Slugger: Son of a…. It’d better not be that freak in the loincloth…

*Slugger looks to his dressing room table and sees the tell-tale piece of bark*

Slugger: Ok. He’s asking for The Beating of his life. And I won’t disappoint him!

*clips end*

Once again, so much going on! The action never stops in the NRWL! This was the J-Transfer! See you next time!

Sweat and Tears - Things Moving Fast

May 9th 2011

Forget about me? I hope not! Things have been busy here in the NRWL. Where to begin? Let’s start with the action in the ring.

The talent has really picked up the ball and run with it. I believe this season’s roster is the best we’ve ever had and I think they are getting better each week. I think that Ash and Slam Jackson are looking like two true heroes of the ring. Both men possess magnetic personalities and deliver exciting performances in the ring. These two on their own can be the tent poles of the company but as fate would have it they have come together as a team. The tent poles can potentially become a pillar. We will see them together for the first time tomorrow. We’ll see if the partnership lasts more than one night.

Speaking of teams, Marty Anderson and Slugger Malone have formed an interesting team. When I heard they were put in a match together, I never saw them winning the match but here they are weeks later as a solid team. Marty Anderson has an incredible array of moves in the ring and he might be one of the best promo guys in the business. His already aggressive ring style is further hardened by Slugger Malone’s roughhouse style. Slugger Malone is already benefitting from his partnership with Anderson. His work in promos are improving and he is quickly developing some new skills in the ring. I suspect these two will be big players in the near future.

Bruno Kowalski has a never quit attitude and his challenge to Rex Anarchy further proves he is taking every advantage he can to get to the top. He was promoted with a lot of hype before the season started and I don’t think it was undeserved.

Scotty “The Body” Paris may be the next Flawless Fred. He had some stumbles early on but like Bruno Kowalski, he is doing everything he can to make an impact. The difference between them is that Scotty does it in a way that rubs people the wrong way. He is already making for a great antagonist in the NRWL.

I could keep going but I’ll finish off with Johnny Young and Mark Blood. These two are in the middle of a feud that seems to be only beginning. Johnny Young has a powerful personality and his ego rivals Scotty “The Body”. Mark Blood, on the other hand, has always had a fierce competitive spirit and is unwilling to settle for anything less than first place. I don’t know where this is going to go but I suspect the fans are going to benefit from the magic they are going to make in the ring going forward.

The NRWL is also working on some new projects to keep things interesting as well. There isn’t much in the way of details yet but there is a Tag Team event in the works. I don’t have many details on this one but it seems like it will be pretty unique and is a major departure from the norm. I hear it will be announced soon so you should keep an eye on the News page.

Finally, there are some juicy bits of information I do have knowledge of. First, the NRWL has unlocked a wealth of photos and videos from previous NRWL seasons. They are going to be used for an NRWL Classics page that will bring some nostalgia back for those longtime fans.

Speaking of nostalgia, I am very proud to be a part of the NRWL Hall of Fame committee and we are looking to add a number of inductees this year. Currently, John Fraust and myself are in the Hall of Fame. In the coming months, the number of Hall of Famers is going to explode. The NRWL has had a monstrous wealth of talent over the years and it is important to recognize them. We’re still in the early stages of this one but expect to see a flurry of information coming as we get closer to the induction ceremonies.

Well, that’s it for me this week. Until next time, keep your shoulders off the mat!

The Championship Scramble

May 9th 2011

*Jay Phillips is backstage with Rex Anarchy. Rex looks relaxed wearing blue jeans and a black T-shirt. The NRWL Championship belt slung over his right shoulder.*

Jay Phillips: Fans, I just caught up with the NRWL Champion, Rex Anarchy, backstage. Rex, you've been relatively quiet compared to most of the other wrestlers on the roster. Fans are curious why that is. Typically, the champion makes the most noise out of anyone.

Rex Anarchy: Let me stop you right there, Jay. Yes, typically, the champion does everything he can to be the spotlight because being the top dog isn't enough to feed their egos. I don't work that way. When I get in the ring, I let my actions speak for me. I don't need to get in front of a camera at every opportunity to tell people I'm here.

JP: I'm sure the NRWL would like you to make your presence known a little more.

RA: I don't really care what they think. If they don't like it, they can take the belt away from me and have another tournament. I'll just win it back anyway. You know what though? I don't think they'll have to worry about that because things are starting to get interesting around this belt. First, that big monkey Apollyon jumps in for a shot at the title. Then Scotty Paris. Now Jay, I pick my fights. Scotty Paris was an annoying fly in that match. I let him do his thing but the one I wanted was Apollyon and he wanted me. Look at the tape of that match. Scotty was more of a third wheel. Apollyon and I aren't done yet. Someday down the line, we'll have our time.

JP: So you didn't care that Scotty won the ladder match?

RA: Of course not! I would have rather won that match myself but given the choice of pummeling Apollyon or squashing that bug Paris, I had my priorities. Scotty Paris is in my view now. He's certainly got my attention but it sounds like there's someone else who wants a chance to fight me.

JP: Yes! You have been challenged by Bruno Kowalski this week. What are your thoughts on this match?

RA: You know, I'm glad to see a guy like Bruno Kowalski step up. "The Polish Powerhouse" is one of the guys I actually like watching in the ring. He's got talent which is something I can't say about so many of the other guys on the roster. I look forward to a good match but I hope he's not expecting this to launch his career to a higher level. If he is, he's barking up the wrong tree. He's good. He's no Rex Anarchy.

JP: Strong words from the champion. Rex, last question, Apollyon and Scotty Paris are in a match this week. Any thoughts?

RA: Either way, it doesn't matter. Unless they kill each other, I look forward to destroying both of them in due time.

JP: There you have it folks, Rex Anarchy has a lot of people looking for the chance to take his belt and from the sounds of it he's looking forward to fending them off. We'll see Rex Anarchy taking on Bruno Kowalski this week. Looking forward to this one!

The Storm Through The Darkness

May 9th 2011

*Storm Harrison is getting out of his car in front of his local "Mega Foods" grocery store. The sky overhead is gray and getting darker by the minute. Just as he locks his door, a man and a young boy are looking at him timidly. Storm immediately recognizes them as curious fans. He gives them a wave and smiles. The boy looks up at the man, who gives him a nod.*

Man: Go ahead, son. It's ok.

Kid: Hey mister, are you Storm Harrison?

Storm Harrison: Yes, I am. Nice to meet you. Are you a fan?

Kid: Yeah! I think you're the best! My dad and I watch you every week.

SH: That's great! I hope I'm doing a good job. The NRWL is tough!

Kid: Are you worried about fighting Abbadon? Those guys are so scary!

*Storm looks up as thunder booms in the distance. The sky begins to get darker.*

SH: Well, they're big guys and very scary but I am ready to fight Abbadon. He hits hard but he'll need to be prepared from all angles. I can hit him straight on, down on the mat, and up in the air. Besides, with fans like you and your father, I know I'll have the support I need.

*Rain begins to fall and lightning strikes in the distance, breaking the increasing blanket of darkness for a brief moment.*

SH: Well, we should get out of this rain. It's a pleasure meeting both of you. I'll give Abbadon a fight he'll never expect. I promise!

*Storm shakes hands with the boy and his father. As they are about to part ways, the father pulls the hood of the boy's jacket over his head and puts an arm around him.*

Man: Can't believe how dark it got out here. Hey, good luck, Storm! The Sons of Darkness don't show mercy!

SH: Thanks, *Another flash of lightning brightens the sky* but it'll be ok. The darkness doesn't last forever.

*Storm Harrison starts walking toward the store, seemingly unaffected by the rain.*

Man: This weather or the Sons of Darkness?

SH: Both.

*Storm Harrison smiles as he tosses a wave to the man and boy behind him.*

The Feud Continues

May 9th 2011

*Mark Blood is in the locker room with Jay Phillips. Mark is just coming from a workout with a water bottle in one hand and a sweat-soaked towel in the other.*

Jay Phillips: I am here with Mark Blood who last week had a big win over Johnny Young. This week, Johnny Young has challenged you to a rematch. What do you have to say about that, Mark?

*Mark empties the last mouthful of water from the bottle over his head and rubs the towel through his hair to push most of the water and sweat out. He looks up and smiles a bit before responding.*

Mark Blood: Ah, yes, Johnny Young. You know, the guy walks around like the whole world works for him. Asking a corporate executive Assistant to book matches for him? How sad is that? He's delusional. Even more delusional than that is his insistence that he was laughing when I had him locked in the STF. No doubt about it, I had him beat and he knows it. Johnny, you aren't fooling anyone. I accept your challenge but I want to make sure I put your inflated ego in its place. To make sure there is no dispute over a win by submission, we need to do this right. Johnny Young, you and I will do this dance again, this week, in the NRWL Arena, in an I Quit match! Let's see what sad excuse you can come up with this time when I pound you into the mat, put the microphone to your lips, and make you say those two beautiful words. It'll be music to my ears.

Jay Phillips: Wow! It looks like this match is getting more interesting. An "I Quit" match between Johnny Young and Mark Blood! Folks, this feud is getting hotter by the minute. We'll see what happens tomorrow night!

Scotty "The Yacht-y"?

May 9th 2011

*Scene cuts to Scotty “The Body” Paris reclining on a chair on his yacht out in the ocean. He’s talking into his cell phone (like usual). Sunning herself in a chair next to him is Trixie.*

Scotty: --oh yeah! Did you see the looks on their faces? It was the greatest thing ever! Those two monkeys were picking bugs out of each other's hair outside the ring, while I triumphantly climbed the ladder to snatch the briefcase *Scotty taps the briefcase, sitting next to his chair, with his free hand* The opportunity was there, and I took it! Because that’s what winners do! And I’m a winner! Now, I have a title shot for whenever I choose! And that’s how it should be! Because I should be making the decisions are here! And soon, I’ll be the NRWL champion! And I’ll give a winner’s face to this federation! I mean, look at Rex Anarchy. You know why he’s so anti-establishment? He’s upset they’re talking about not raising his welfare 5% this year! Loser like him mooch off the system and then gripe when they don’t get any more handouts. Maybe if he actually applied himself in life, he wouldn’t be such a failure at everything he does. He’s the perfect example of being satisfied with a little success. He wins the belt, and hasn’t done squat since. He’s done nothing to better himself. He reached a highpoint and content to plateau off. Not me! I had a shaky start because I underestimated the some of these hobos – I mean, who would’ve though you could learn some of those moves in an alley? But now, I’m on a roll! I am a contender for the belt, and nobody can say otherwise, because I have it in writing. Right –

*Scotty stops mid-sentence and looks at his phone*

Scotty: Hey listen Mom, I gotta go. I have another call that’s more important. Sorry I didn’t get to see you for Mother’s Day. Did you get the chocolate bar I sent you? ………What do you mean you’re diabetic? Since when are you diabetic? ……….uh huh…………...you’re whole life? You don’t say. Well, sorry, but you can’t expect me to remember things like this. Can you send the candy bar back then? I’ll eat it. Now listen, I really have to go. I’ll try to see you next year. Bye.

*hangs up and picks up the incoming call*

Scotty: WHAT DO YOU WANT?!? I’m busy!!!! …………………..Yeah, the gorilla in the mask that I beat last show. What about him? …………………….Say again? ……………………WHAT DO YOU MEAN “I HAVE A MATCH WITH HIM?!?!” Are you freaking crazy??!? I can’t have a match with Apollyon. I mean, I’m still recovering from that 10 foot fall I took when I won the last match. I couldn’t brace for the impact while clutching the briefcase! This is ridiculous!!! …………………………….. What “revenge?” Revenge on me for what??? ……………………………….No that’s HIS fault he lost, not mine!!! Listen, here’s what you’re going to do. You’re going to get in contact with Mr. Sunderland AND Mr. Charles and tell them this match isn’t happening! ………………………………..What do you mean “You can’t stop the match?” You know what I call people who tell me “can’t???” I call them “ex-employees!” You figure something out. You’re job depends on it!

*Scotty throws his phone and it splashes into the ocean*

Trixie: *without moving* You get so worked up.

Scotty: I know. I just don’t understand why people are so spineless. “Wah! I can’t stop the match! They’ll yell at me! Wah!” So gutless.

*Trixie reaches over to a small table and picks up her margarita, takes a sip, and places it back down*

Trixie: Everyone else sucks, Scotty.

Scotty: You said it.

*scene cuts out*

The J-Transfer - Challenges Galore

May 9th 2011

Jay Phillips once again with The J-Transfer! We’re a mere 36 hours before the next show, and I’ve been busy hoofing it to and fro to get the latest from the NRWL talent! Let’s get right to the clips!

*Cut to Jay running down the arena hallways up to Nick Belhor*

Jay: Mr. Behlor! What’s up next for the Sons of Darkness, both of which are coming off a loss at the last show.

*Nick Belhor glares angrily at Jay*

Nick: You watch what you say, Phillips! Or you’ll be leaving this arena in a mop bucket. The NRWL execs are content on doing everything in their power to keep my disciples pushed off to the side. It’s criminal, really. First, they change Apollyon’s title shot into a Triple Threat, throwing a useless Scotty Paris wildcard into the mix. Then they claim that Apollyon has used his title shot and must work for another one. The nerve! THEN, they book Abbadon into a No-DQ match. I’m sorry, I thought this was supposed to be “wrestling.” You know, where you use your physical and athletic prowess to win. Not a weapon. What a joke of a federation. But, we will adhere to the rules, so here’s what going to happen. First, Apollyon is taking on that parasitic mite Scotty “The Body” Paris for his blatent interference with Apollyon’s title shot – and after the match, there won’t be a more fitting nickname for Paris than “The Body.” And Secondly, Abbadon is taking on Storm Harrison. The execs insist Abbadon work through the ranks, so he will challenge someone who is at least talented in order to re-prove his worthiness. It wouldn’t make sense to challenge someone like Mark Blood…

Jay: Apollyon vs Scotty “The Body” Paris and Abbadon vs Storm Harrison!

Nick: Get away from me, Phillips

*clips cuts to Bruno Kowalski in the ring*

Bruno: --so here’s what I’m thinking. We have an NRWL champion. I respect him and his accomplishments, but he has something I want. My goal is to hold that belt that he currently has. I’m not asking for a title shot because I understand those have to be earned, but what I want is a match with Rex Anarchy. He’s got the belt which makes him the best. If I can beat the best one-on-one, then I think I’ll have earned a shot at the belt. So what do you say, Rex? Iron sharpens iron, but let’s make sure that gold you have around your waist doesn’t become iron sulfide.

*Clips cut to a scene out in the woods. There is an primitive lean-to and small campfire. Ingoyama is kneeling in front of the fire cooking a piece of meat over it. Suddenly, a big piece of bark comes sailing into the scene and lands in Ingoyama’s camp. He picks it up and looks at it. Drawn on it are two crudely drawn stick figures, one punching the other. The one getting punched has a brown skirt drawn on it. The one delivering the punch appears to be wearing a red mask and has what appears to be the flag of Mexico over his head. Ingoyama’s face turns to a frown. He clinches his teeth, turns and picks up his spear, puts on his war mask, and runs into the woods. Scene cuts out.*

I'm Here To See The President

May 5th 2011

*Johnny Young is seen walking up to a large receptionist desk. Despite being inside, he is wearing his sunglasses.*

Receptionist: Yes sir, can I help you?

Johnny Young: I’m Johnny Young.

Receptionist: Yes, of course, Mr. Young, can I help you?

JY: I’m here to see Mr. Sunderland.

Receptionist: Did you have an appointment? I don’t see anything...

JY: Just tell him I’m here. I’m ‘The Star Player’. I don’t need an appointment.

Receptionist: I’m sorry, but Mr. Sunderland is out of town at the moment. He’ll be back on Monday. Would you like me to take a message?

*Johnny takes off his sunglasses and smiles.*

JY: Sure. Tell him that I saw Ash talking about wanting to lead a team in some kind of a tournament. You tell Mr. Sunderland that I want to captain one of those teams. I mean, I’m sure that putting me in charge of a team was the idea from the start but I just want to make it clear that I am all for it. Team Young is ready and willing!

*The receptionist is writing down the message.*

Receptionist: Ready... willing. Ok, I got it and I’ll make sure he gets it. Anything else I can help you with.

*Johnny puts his hand to his chin and rubs it in deep thought.*

JY: No, I guess that will, oh! Actually, yes! There is something else. I need you to book myself and Mark Blood to a rematch for the next event. You see, that idiot ref thought I was giving up when Blood had me in the STF but I was actually laughing. My hand tapped the mat accidentally! What a moron. Like I’d ever give up to a loser like Mark Blood. When we get into the ring next time, he’s going to be a world of hurt. You can count on that. I’m going to fix this mess!

Receptionist: I can’t do that!

JY: What do you mean? Don’t you book trips and things for Mr. Sunderland and Mr. Charles? So do it. Book a match!

Receptionist: Mr. Young, I do not book matches! If you want a match against Mark Blood, I suggest you go talk to the booking committee. They are just down the hall.

JY: Fine. Fine. I’ll do it myself. Useless. I don’t know how you have a job.

*Johnny Young walks out the door in disgust. A moment later, NRWL Hall of Famer Mike Blood comes out from a conference room.*

Mike Blood: Hi Linda, we’re just wrapping up our meeting. We have a list of potential inductees, can you send them to Mr. Sunderland and Mr. Charles to get their opinions? We’re hoping to come to a final decision soon.

Linda: Sure thing, Mr. Blood. I’ll take care of it immediately.

MB: Thanks. Hey, was someone just out here?

Linda: Yeah, Johnny Young was here. He came in asking to be team captain of an upcoming team tournament and then asked me to book him a rematch against your son! Like I could do that!

MB: What? Uhh, ok. Whatever. You know, he’s a really gifted wrestler but sometimes I think he’s taken too many piledrivers to the head.

*Linda and Mike Blood both look at the door that Johnny Young walked out of and shake their heads.*

A Real Headscratcher

May 5th 2011

Jay Phillips: Hello fans! Welcome to the NRWL Arena Interview Stage. Thanks for all of you in attendance today. We have a great interview lined up for you today. After Ash and Slam Jackson issued a challenge to Marty Anderson and Slugger Malone, I felt we needed to get a response from them. So, let’s bring them out.

*Marty Anderson’s music starts playing and he comes out with Slugger Malone to the Interview Stage. The fans give a mixed response, mostly jeers. Both wrestlers don’t seem to be paying attention to them.*

JP: Marty Anderson, Slugger Malone, thank you for coming today.

Marty Anderson: With pleasure, Jay. We’re going to cut right to the chase. We went into singles competition last week but first and foremost, we are a team. This time around, we want a tag match.

JP: Well, surely you know that you were challenged this week by Ash and his partner, Slam Jackson.

Slugger Malone: The hell are you talking about?

MA: Yeah, this is the first we’re hearing of this.

JP: Ok, wait. So you are saying that you haven’t seen the challenge?

SM: No, we haven’t! That’s exactly what we’re telling you, Jay.

JP: Well, I think you’ll need to see this. Please play the Ash and Slam clip from yesterday.

*On the screen behind Jay, Anderson, and Malone, the challenge that was issued to them begins to play. Anderson and Malone watch intently at the beginning. Suddenly, as Slam Jackson falls through the wall and stumbles to collect his fedora, both men start looking at the screen with a stunning and confused look. They begin to look at each other in confusion as the clip continues on. Malone begins scratching his head. Anderson starts whispering something into Malone’s ear, whose only response is to shake his head. Finally, when the clip ends, both men turn to Jay with a blank stare.*

JP: There you have it. You’ve been challenged by Ash and the Slamnation.

*The audience begins to cheer.*

MA: Oooh Kaayyy... So. Well. Well geez, Jay, what is that supposed to be? Some sort of joke? If these clowns want a match, then we’ll give them a match.

SM: The... Slam.. Nation?

MA: I don’t know, they’re idiots. If Ash and Slam Jackson think they have a chance to--

*The fans begin to cheer at the mention of Ash and Slam.*

MA: Oh you can’t be serious. Do you people really think these two clowns are worth your time?

*The fans cheer even louder.*

MA: You know, there are some real, true wrestling fans who judge a competitor by their talent in the ring, not their goofy antics outside of it. I don’t care what you people think of Ash and Slam Jackson. The truth is, they may make good comedians but they can’t hold a candle to Marty Anderson and Slugger Malone.

SM: You’re abso- *The fans are chanting ‘Ash and Slam! Ash and Slam!’* - Hey! Shut up! I’m talking here!

*The crown continues their chant. Slugger Malone sneers and draws his lips into a thin line. Finally, he continues to speak over the chants.*

SM: It’s going to be a real pleasure to watch all you fans with tears in your eyes when we beat your jokester heroes in the ring. Ash and Slam have no chance against us. Ash already lost to us once before. Slam is no threat to us. We’ll make sure to silence the Slamnation and then finish the job that Abbadon started on Ash.

MA: Slugger’s right. We’re coming in there to shut this little party down and make sure people know what real wrestlers look like. Whether you like us or hate us, you’ll respect us when you see what we do to these two clowns. Let’s get out of here, Slugger.

*Marty Anderson and Slugger Malone leave the Interview Stage. The fans are still chanting ‘Ash and Slam! Ash and Slam!’ as Jay stands alone.*

JP: Well, I guess that settles it. We’re going to have quite a tag team match when Ash and Slam Jackson take on Marty Anderson and Slugger Malone!

Ash, And You Shall Receive

May 3rd 2011

*Scene cuts to backstage where Jay is seen interviewing Ash*

Jay:  I’m here with the man who defeated Abbadon at the last show, Ash!

Ash:  What did I tell you Jay?  Abbadon and I stole the show!  Our match was epic!  But I knew the whole time I’d win because there was nobody out there that didn’t believe in me!  Ha ha ha!  Ooooh!  It hurts to laugh!

Jay:  Because your ribs got bruised when Abbadon chokeslammed you onto the steel steps?

Ash:  That might be part of the reason, but probably not.  Anyway, I called you here to drop some deneuralizing news for you and for the amazing fans!  I’m going to be in a match at the next show!

Jay:  …..that’s….not really all that ground-breaking.  I kinda expected you to—

Ash:  A tag match!

Jay:  O…….k…..   You already were in one so that’s really not surpr—

Ash:  Calling out Marty Anderson and Slugger Malone!

Jay:  Who beat you, so it’s understandable you would want a remat—

Ash:  With the entire Slamnation backing me, because my partner is none other than…. Slam!!!  ….JACKSON!!!!!

Jay:  Slam Jackson!?!

*Ash points over to a blank piece of conspicuously placed drywall.  A pair of pyrotechnic flames burst on both sides of it, and Slam Jackson bursts through the wall.  He “accidentally” loses balance and falls down through the rest of the wall, sending his fedora tumbling.*

Jay:  Ooooh my…..

*Slam crawls over to it in faux-panic and places it back on his hands and stands up.  He stands before Jay and Ash silently for a few seconds and dusts off his hands.  After a while he turns around and reaches back through the hole and pulls out a milkcrate which he walks over and places on the ground nex to Jay.  Slam climbs up on the milkcrate and throws his fists in the air*

Slam:  If you’re a citizen of Slamnation, then make some NOOOOOIIIIISSSE!!!!

*Off camera, all crew members and arena employees in the vicinity began cheering.*

Slam:  That’s right!  The population of Slamnation is growing every day!  And now, it’s going to increase exponentially because it’s joining forces with Ash!  That’s right!  The fans’ two favorite wrestlers will make up one dream team.  We will put on a clinic against Marty and Slugger for Slamnation members old and new!  Yeah!

Ash:  Well Jay, what do you think about that?

Jay:  I think we got ourselves one heck of a tag team match at the next show.

Ash:  Now you’re talking Jay!  With Slam Jackson and his Slamnation at my side, there’s not a doubt in my mind that we’ll take this match!

Slam:  Yeah!

*Slam jumps down off the milkcrate and shakes Ash’s hand.  Slam then turns and busts through the NRWL backdrop behind Ash and Jay, startling Jay and leaving a big hole where backstage equipment can be seen*

Jay:  Well, I guess we should wind this down.  Any closing statements, Ash?

Ash:  Oh heck yeah!  I read in President Sunderland’s e-mail that there’s a sort of Team Tournament coming up soon.

Jay:  How did you read his—

Ash:  I went to see him but he wasn’t there and his computer was unlocked.  I thought I’d just play Solitiare until he got back, but then I thought I’d check to make sure he got that e-card I sent him with the singing Dick Cheney.  It was so funny!  I’ll send it to you too!  What’s your e-mail?

Jay:  No, that’s ok.  But what about this tournament?

Ash:  Yeah, about that.  I want to be a team captain.  I think I not only got what it takes to lead my team to victory, but I’m also the fans’ favorite!  They’d want to see me captain of a team!  Team Ash.  Has a great sound to it!  So, my hat’s thrown into the ring.  Let’s make it happen!

Jay:  A challenge, a team, and a request from Ash.  How will it all pan out?  We will see at the next show.
