Flawless Facts - NRWL Relaunches. Thanks to ME. You're Welcome.

February 28th 2011

I am absolutely amazing.

Welcome to the single redeeming aspect of the relaunch of the NRWL, "Flawless Fred's Flawless Facts." I extend that welcome only to those who spent more on their shoes than it takes to feed the average nuclear family for the month. If you don't fall into that category, go ooze your way back to your trailer - the flies miss crawling on you.

Well, the NRWL is back. And of course, the only reason it's actually back is because I signed on be involved in some way. Without me, there would be no way this federation would have any success this season. Sure, Mr. Charles and Mr. Sunderland can believe they brought back a great thing. They can talk all about the "new talent pool" when they come up for air while they French-kiss each other, but the truth is that the NRWL is the NRWL because I'm here. Let's be honest. Anything of any significance that has ever happened, I've had a part of in some way. Without me giving my much-respected and highly acclaimed viewpoints, this season would consist watching of a bunch of untalented amateurs playing patty-cake in the ring, and reading the ramblings of a tired old geezer who's one uneven sidewalk away from a broken hip. Yay...

So try to find some enjoyment from these outcasts-from-the-short-school-bus tripping over each other, and just completely skip the nonsensical drivel of the fossil, while you anxiously await the next masterpiece article written by the only non-hack this federation has employed.

I'm Flawless Fred, and those are the Facts.

Sweat and Tears - Reborn From History

February 28th 2011

Welcome back, fans!

After a long absence, the NRWL is back for a fourth season. I am excited to have the opportunity to share my thoughts on NRWL current events and on wrestling itself. This season is going to be interesting for a few reasons. We are going to be treated to a new roster and because of that, it’s going to be a completely new experience. At the same time, this is what I believe to be the mature phase of the NRWL. It finally stands on its own from its predecessors.

The NRWL opened its doors in 2003 but its roots actually go back to the mid-1990s. Back then, Mr. Sunderland ran “Masters of Wrestling” (MoW), a promotion I spent most of my career wrestling for. At the same time, Mr. Charles ran a promotion called “Super Century Strong Fighter” (SCSF). While they probably should have been competing against each other, they cross-promoted instead. They even held unified pay-per-view events. They operated as two separate companies but I don’t think either one of them would have survived without the other.

Eventually, both SCSF and MoW shut their doors. Mr. Sunderland and Mr. Charles weren’t done with wrestling, however. They became agents for unsigned wrestlers. During this phase of their careers, Mr. Sunderland brought the wrestling world John Fraust, an NWRL Hall of Famer. Mr. Charles, who had run a smaller promotion called SlamDay Night Wrestling (SDNW) during the SCSF days, brought a former SDNW wrestler named WarHead to the spotlight and gave him his big break along with another legendary wrestler, Cujo. Fans will remember them as the Bad Seeds.

At some point, both men must have gotten the itch to run their own promotion again instead of shopping all this great talent around. The end result of this itch is the NRWL. This symbolic merging of SCSF and MoW was a fan’s dream come true. The rest is history.

I think the first three seasons, while great in their own right, were not the true vision of the NRWL. I think season four will be. This is a clean break. The roster is fresh and new and promises to give the NRWL its own face, finally stepping out of the shadow of SCSF and MoW. The roster is going to be announced very shortly and I can’t wait to learn more about these stars. Mr. Charles and Mr. Sunderland have a good eye for talent and for them to bank their promotion on a brand new roster, I think we’re in for a real treat.

As a fan myself, I’m looking forward to experiencing the excitement with you. Until next time, keep your shoulders off the mat.
